I adore this times of year. Our little plot of land is in full bloom and the scents of the flowers and garden are divine. Nothing puts a smile on my face quite like my evening walks around the yard to see what the day has brought to the fruits of our labor. We are truly enjoying our yard more this year than we have in the past. We have been more efficient at managing our time and have been able dedicate more time to our gardens-most likely because William & Grace are older and we worry less about one of them trying to swallow a stick or some other ridiculous thing a toddler tries to do. Forget those guys you can hire at Home Depot, handy husband and I can whip out a day's worth of work during Graham's morning nap.
The hollyhocks that remind me so much of my mom. There is this fantastic (black & white) picture of my mom as a young girl surrounded by hollyhocks.
love these
I can't seem to keep up with these green beans. We're constantly picking them! The kids love our daily trips to the garden in search of something for dinner.
My new dahlia garden.
Basil just screaming for heirloom tomatoes.
"Tom Thumb" butterhead lettuce. The world's cutest. And my favorite.
Red kale
More dahlias
and more dahlias
I love this chocolate/red colored variety.
Our squash garden. We trellised some of our squash this year and it is working wonderfully.
Acorn squash
C'mon pumpkin...grow, grow, grow.
This little guy will give way to a beautiful orange pumpkin when the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall.
My favorite sweet peas. Their sweet scent fills the air on the back patio. The stargazer and Casablanca lilies also smell divine but I didn't get a photo of them.
A few tomatoes the kids have yet to find!
Limelight hydrangeas
cucumbers
One of the many roses
Just beautiful!
